Storms / Planes / City

The other night there was a thunder storm which was sitting over Sydney Airport. Usually when this happens they will ask the planes to circle and wait it out but it was in the evening when a lot of people where coming home or leaving.

So they where re-directing the flights back over the city. this doesnt happen a lot but when it does its pretty cool. Cause you see huge planes flying over the city.

I found a new spot to shoot the city so I might take a few more from up here in the future. Its a better location than my apartment roof as you are higher and also can see more of the city.

I have so many good photo’s I want to post up of my shoot I did with Mark Hoppus from Blink 182 / Plus 44. Yet I cant due to Blunt Magazine needing to sift through them for their article. I have a busy weekend this weekend, lots of shoots and in a small space of time.

I had a really shitty day at work today as it went for ages and didnt seem to end. I also got word that I could go and pick up my Fish Eye 15mm 2.8 Lens from the doctors as it had totally stopped working. Well more so that it decided to not focus any more, but the $250 that it cost me to repair it was worth the hassle of a new lens.

I have had this lens for about 11 years now which is rad as I remember buying it freaking out hoping to one day repay the lens with dollars earnt, thankfully it has ten fold.

So getting home from work and feeling like crap i quickly set up my gear real basic and left it on time lapse. It has made me feel a little better but now I have sore eyes from the flash. 

Damn this is a full on emo post! Shit.

Also I’m going out to the bush again to take some photos of my friend mountain biking again. I think I need some out doors time. 

Falling Boys In Brisbane

For issue #79 of Blunt Magazine I went to Brisbane to shoot the pop punk lords Fall Out Boy. It was something that I was siked to shoot but also knew that it came with a lot of baggage. The baggage was strict shooting times, controlled areas and of cause being escorted every where.

I have done a heap of this stuff before but now days there is a heap of different people shooting the events like online sites, social pages, magazines and pretty much every you you can think of who wants a piece of the action. It was strange to sit in the lounge to hear the shit talk that some of the people where talking about. Im no one to judge or try to pull rank but seriously they where a little over the top in shit talk. Lucky i had my Brisbane party machine shooting along side me Dyms! This guys rages harder than anyone and shoots everything in a whirl wind.

So issue #79 is on shelves this week, i dont think you can miss it.

Chilli Surfboards

Just had some rough proofs sent through on the weekend of a super quick product shoot I did for Chilli Surfboards. I dont surf and I hate the sand but hey they are good guys there. They are even into at times good music 😉

I was shooting them so they would be posted and had the arms and the heads taken off, but I guess they wanted to run them as is.

Nothing ground breaking to this but that was all i was briefed on. Nice and simple and got the point across to the soft goods. There is talk of helping them setup more work for them, so thats when ill get creative and shoot it on location not on a “Vice Mag” wall.

I have just had a great idea for this shoot I have on the weekend and it had totally slipped my mind as to where to shoot it. Should be fun hope we don’t get attacked….
