Skating in Newcastle

This weekend I headed to Newcastle to shoot some of my friends skate and of cause catch up with the crew.

*Gang bang

We had talked about shooting this gap Simon wanted to get a photo of. Now when my friend Jim (who i shot doing that lay back a while ago in the drain) broke it down on how massive this gap was I dont think he did a good job, cause this thing was massive!

We are talking like a two lane road on flat ground with a rough run up. We turned up to shoot it and the mosquitos came busting out and started to eat us alive. As i type this my fingers are itching from being bitten so much. Im not going to talk up this im just going to say its the biggest thing i have ever seen.

* Balls of steel

After I set up my gear I realised my CF card had fucked out so i could only shoot one frame on it! Lame, so we only have 1 mage of it as I had to keep deleting it after each try.

So after that we headed out to the junkie Jesmond Bowl to kick it. Raced into Big W to get a cheap CF card and its sweet. So we shot some stupid stuff at the bowl. Nothing serious but they came out nice regardless.

This is Pat, his brother can be known as; T-Bone, T-Bizzy, Bone, Boneinator, South African Dude, Josh Kasper, Old Dirty, Tha Muska. Pat can do amazing seat belt crail slides.

*Always wear your seat belt

Im going to be up in Newcastle next week for Easter, and we have planned some mental stuff already! Get ready to be hammered visually.

A Clear Day Finally

Yesterday I went out again to shoot some of my friends ride around and jump over things on their springy bikes. Like I say all the time its pretty fun to get out and in the bush and hike around, Im an unfit lizard so it does me good.

Trev has gotten a heap better since i was out last. Hitting some pretty crazy things. He showed me this “step up” that he got wailed on which is like over head hight, we are going to shoot it next time im out.

* Pitch dark riding

As well Trev usually rides with his mate Lenn who is yet another Canadian. He doesnt mind hitting some big stuff which i think i would freak on jumping down. He has a different riding style to Trev which is rad so i had two styles to play around with.

* Long jump

Trev and I had looked at this drop every time we have been out to this spot. So crazy cause you gotta hit it off a thin plank of wood that looks like it should be off the side of a pirate ship. 

* Big

As per usual I sweated my ass out hiking all my gear around and also walking through puddles of water in the dark.

Going to Newcastle tomorrow to shoot Simon skate this monster street gap, batteries are being charged.

Infection

This weekend it was so rad to hang out with my good friends in Infection in Sydney. They where up here to play with Ill Brigade for there run of shows.

If you dont listen to Infection then you should now. They are good guys and 1 lady so make the effort to catch them when they are in your town. Also stand up front and dont be a stranger as they wont bite, Dougie Fresh is vegan.

I sprung a quick un planned shoot on them as we where all hanging out. It was pretty funny and came off nice.

As well got to spend some time with the Craterface guys who are amazing people and also play some great jams. They have an album coming out soon so keep your eyes on that prize.

Ricky Ricky Your So Tricky

Went out and hung with my boys in Newcastle this weekend and went for a roll in some drains. We were talking about when ever James and I go out skating and shoot some photos we always end up shooting some stupid random tick or dressing up like idiots.

This time it was shooting something random.

* Lay back braaa!

It was actually pretty fun to hang out in the drains like old days. Also I found that I have a broken fish eye, looks like its a trip to the service centre this week.

Now Ricky has been around for a few years now. He was this young kid who was from a broken home that would come down and skate with us but he would rollerblade. So we conned him into riding a board and hang up the skates.

Ricky is a holding a few extra cards in his deck than us but he always amazes us with his randomness and funny jokes. So he is apart of the crew and is actually getting better at skating. 

He is a cut little prick these days.

* Dont mess with this 55kg machine

Also we found out he used to do gymnastics back in the day. So he thought he would bust out a hand spring over the drain! This was totally random and we all pissed our selves laughing even Ricky. 

* Bust’n out!

In a fortnight Im heading up again for some more shooting of my boys. There is this wheel chair bump that is going to get destroyed by Simon, so siked to shoot it.

Transworld Feb 09

So finally I got my hands on a copy of Transworld Surf that i had a full page ad in. This was for Macbeth Footwear’s team rider Damien Wills. So if you have a chance to see this at the news stand pick up a copy and have a flick through to page 59.

 

 

Shooting with flashes in the middle of the day is always fun. Also i still hate the beach and sand.
